Finding Other Queer Sources

While our library is a great place to find affirming or informational queer/Trans reads, our collection only represents a small selection of LGBTQIA+ media produced. Additionally, writing full-length books requires intense quantities of time, energy, and resources, and publishers tend to prioritize publishing what they think will sell. This often results in the book market underrepresenting creators from marginalized communities, especially queer, Trans, disabled, working-class, or BIPOC authors. Similarly, publishers are unlikely to publish things they consider ‘radical’, discouraging activists from disseminating their ideas through traditional books.

This section will provide brief introductions to other potential sources of queer/Trans knowledge sharing, along with a couple of recommendations for each media type to get you started. However, we encourage you to do your own searching to find alternative media on topics that interest you. Find something particularly cool? Feel free to let us know using our feedback form!
