This page provides information about the security screening and background checks required by the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) as well as the refugee resettlement process. The USRAP is an interagency effort which includes a number of governmental and non-governmental partners both abroad and in the United States.

The Annual Survey of Refugees (ASR) is the nation’s unique source of data on the experiences of refugees who recently resettled in the United States. The ASR offers a window into refugees’ progress during their initial five years after arrival. Key ASR findings are included in ORR’s Annual Report to Congress, as Congressionally-mandated by the Refugee Act of 1980. The ASR has been collected annually since the early 1980s.
