Unlike the traditional publishing, in which content is provided at a cost, Open Access publishing provides content free online to readers with financial models that permit such a free electronic distribution. As for now, most advances in Open Access publishing have been made in the area of journal publishing, but there are increasing numbers of ventures into Open Access monograph publishing too.
