What is LibX PUL ?
LibX PUL is a web browser plugin/extension/add-on for Firefox that provides direct access to selected library resources. It offers several innovative features:
1. Library Links: Direct links to the most popular Princeton University Library links.
2. In-Browser Searching: A search box that provides direct access to several catalogs and databases from your web browser and allows construction of
simple or advanced searches.
3. Right-Click Context Menu: Right-click menu that changes automatically depending on what is selected. For instance, if an ISBN is selected, the context menu will offer the option to search directly using that specific identifier. Currently recognized are CrossRef DOIs, ISBNs, and ISSNs, and PubMed IDs. You can fully configure which options appear in the "LibX Preferences" menu.
4. Autolinking: LibX automatically links CrossRef DOIs, ISBNs, and ISSNs, PubMed IDs and other identifiers to the Main Catalog or FindIt@PUL . Examples: 006073132X, 0-06-073132-X, 9780060731328, 978-0-06-073132-8, 0098-7484, PMID: 16646082, 10.1103/PhysRevD.66.063511 , 10.1038/415863a , 10.1145/1075382.1075383 . The dotted line underneath each number indicates an autolink.
5. Google Scholar "Magic Button":
Select text and search for the selected text in Google Scholar.
In addition, LibX will read Scholar's results for you, determine whether the paper
was found and if so, ask FindIt@PUL 
for a subscription copy,
should you not have access to the copy to which Scholar links. FindIt@PUL will also allow you to request the article via Interlibrary Loan if princeton does not have access to that title.
You can use this feature even from inside a PDF, which makes retrieving papers referenced in a PDF
file a snap.
6. Support for Embedded Cues: LibX places clickable cues near bibliographic data on compatible web pages. Whenever you see the cue,
click on it to check Princeton's holdings for that item.
For instance, book pages at Amazon or Barnes & Noble will contain cues
that link to the book's entry in the PUL Main Catalog.
Cues are also displayed at Google, Yahoo! Search, the NY Times Book Review, and other pages.
Installation
1. Open the link below in Firefox:
Firefox Users: Click here to install LibX Princeton University Library Edition
2. If Firefox displays a message "To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site...from installing software on your computer, "press the button labeled "Edit Options..." and click "Allow" to add the LibX download site to the list of websites from which add-ons may be installed. Then click "Ok" and visit the "Install" link again.
3. Restart Firefox and look for the toolbar when your Firefox window opens again.
Note:
Anyone can download LibX PUL, but only Princeton University affiliates will be able to use the toolbar to search licensed databases (Scopus, ProQuest, etc.). Princeton University students, faculty and staff can use VPN or the Proxy Server for off-campus access to LibX PUL's authenticated resources.
