Hospital Statistics. American Hospital Association, 1972+ (note: not published in 1973).  Summary book of the data compiled from the American Hospital Association annual surveys. Each edition typically covers the previous year's data and in some cases 2 years prior. RA981.A2A6234 (Current volume in DSS)   For earlier years, the American Hospital Association monthly journal "Hospitals" included summary statistics regularly in various issues.  Check the annual index (last volume of each year) for months and topics under "Statistics".   Princeton holdings are spotty with earliest back to 1952.
