Mudd is the main document repository for records from the ACLU's national office and other related collections.

ACLU User Agreement Form

Researchers requesting remote access to materials from the ACLU collection are required to complete the ACLU User Agreement Form.

Requesting Copies of Materials

The Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library offers a variety of imaging services which vary by type of material and product needed. For the ACLU collection, we can generally provide PDF copies of any open materials, which you will receive about 3-4 weeks after receipt of payment for your order. If you are submitting a request for materials that have not yet been reviewed, please allow up to an additional 10 business days for the materials to be reviewed. See the ACLU Access Restrictions pages for more information.

Please use the finding aids to identify the specific materials you wish to have copied, and provide the collection name(s), box number(s), and folder number(s) or folder title(s) for these materials. Please note that there is a 300 page limit on digtization requests. Should you believe you are in need of services that do not align with our order fulfillment period or page limits, please reach out to an archivist to discuss it further. Archivists may be able to direct you to other organizations that can assist you.

If you have not already done so, please create a Special Collections Research Account. This allows us to properly circulate the request on your behalf to our Imaging Services.
